Genres: Young Adult, Contemporary, Mystery,

Kellan Turner is not the golden boy everyone thinks he is and Romy Grey knows that for a fact. But when she speaks up, she is branded a liar. Telling the truth has cost her everything, because no one wants to believe a girl from the wrong side of town.

But when news of Kellan assaulting another girl gets out, the cost of staying silent might be more than Romy can bear. All The Rage examines the shame and silence inflicted upon young women in a culture that refuses to protect them.

**I received a free ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion**

When I began reading this book, I knew it was going to be a heavy read by reading the synopsis, but I never realised just how greatly this book was going to affect me. It covered so many important topics, and dealt with them so well. It’s a book I’d recommend to so many people, because it’s brutally honest, and I think so many people would really benefit from reading it.

This might be the hardest book I’ve ever read. I wasn’t addicted, and in places, I didn’t want to read on. Some of the themes horrified me, and it was a struggle to read on in places, because of how harshly it’s written. It’s relentlessly miserable, with shocks around every corner - there was never time for a breather, which is one of the reasons it was a really tough read. I’d recommend having a light, easy contemporary for after this one!

I didn’t like the writing style, but it didn’t bother me too much. I didn’t really like Romy as a lead - of course, I felt bad for her, but I felt she wasn’t shown as likeable. This might have been intentional, but I just wasn’t feeling it! I know she was going through a horrific time, but I had trouble connecting with her and some of the other characters.

So much happens in this book, so I don’t want too say much in case of spoilers! One thing I will say: you need to read this book. It is excellent, and I’d highly recommend - there’s so many important themes, and I think it’s so worth it. This is one of the rare books that I think have actually changed me, so it’s a must read!

  1. Ah, it's great to hear that this book has changed you! Books have that mysterious power to do so, don't they? :P Those kinds of books are the best, imo :)

  2. I've heard a lot about this book, and it sounds so, difficult to read, because of the themes and everything, so I'm not really sure that I can handle this kind of read. But they can be eye-opening, and I'm really glad you felt like it changed you. Maybe I will try to read it sometime! :)

    1. Yeah, it is a really tough read. It won't be for everyone (I know lots of people will probably just put it down because it's just too heavy), but I think it is worth it. If you're feeling brave, I'd highly recommend! :D

  3. I am happy to see that you enjoyed this book, despite any issues you had with it. I absolutely loved this one too, it was so good. Although I actually did really like Romy, but can definitely see why she might not be for everyone.

  5. All the Rage has been on my radar for quite a while now. I haven't heard too much, but I'm so glad to hear that you really liked it. You've definitely convinced me to give the book a shot. Now it depends on when I'm in the right book to read such a dark and gritty novel. Great review Denise!

  7. Isn't it always the best feeling when a book really affects you that way? And "brutally honest" sounds just perfect. I don't like when books claim to focus on a difficult topic and then skirt around the edges of it. Lovely review, Denise! ♥

    1. Not when it leaves me like this!! I literally just sat there after finishing and just stared into space, trying to process what I had just read! Yeah, I hate that too, so I was glad this book dealt with it so well. Thank you, Erin! ♥

  8. This book is on my TBR. Not because I think it is going to be a whole lot of fun to read, but because I know it is going to be one worthwhile reading. I want to know more about these themes that it covers and because everyone says the book handles them so well, I want to know how it manages to do this. I am glad you were able to feel for this book, Denise. Thanks for the review.

  10. This seems like a really intense book but I WANT TO TRY IT? It's contemporary so that's not in my comfort zone but everyone swears by Courtney Summers' writing. Plus I like tough themes in my books. Hmm.

  11. I feel this review! This is exactly what I felt when I was reading a book that tackles deep issues as well, where the scenes were equivalently cringe worthy and where the character was not exactly being friendly.

I was about to request this on NetGalley, and I am so glad that I stumbled upon your review. I hope to pick this one up soon! :D
